Title : Taking a train without having any money in my ezlink card.

As the title says, i went into a MRT station with no cash and no money in my ez-link card. This was my 2nd time asking for a free pass in and i looked very stupid. From the person's expression it seems like he thought i was trying to pull some prank of getting by free.

I asked the person if he could let me through as my card didn't have any money left and i had forgotten to top it up. The person gave me a really annoying look and took my ez-link card. After filling up some weird form, he let me through. He explained to me what to do and warned me that this was my 2nd time and i should not make it a habit.

I hated the way he sounded when he said that. He said it as if i had commited a crime. He said that "You already have 1 record, this is your 2nd". It's as if i did something wrong and it's like the school when they record down something into the computer. Really scared me for a bit and annoyed me with his tone.

I think as people who are working as helpers they should have a friendlier tone, or else this might give foreigners bad impressions.

Title : Road martial duty.

As the title says, all NPCC cadets from sec 2 ~ sec 4 needs to go and help 2 P5 schools and be traffic police. I and 3 other sec 2 cadets had to help the officer in charge with the go-karts and bicycles. Sometimes i find the P5s very annoying. My bike's too small, my bike's too big, i can't wear my helmet properly, how do i cycle this. Well we all have rules to follow. We were not allowed to let them change from bike to go-kart or vise versa.

Before we started our duty, we were briefed on our job roles and then we left for our job roles. After all drivers and bikers had their vehicles, we all set off for our post. We were told that we had to book them incase they broke a rule such as running on the pavement or stepping on grass. A little to strict i think for stepping on grass. I felt quite weird when the P5 students called me police officer or sir. Well i have not yet reach that rank yet.

I booked a total of 10 students, although it's nothing compared to my friend that booked 26 people. Seeing this, i can conclude that the P5 batch that we helped were very outgoing and dislike following rules. After the whole thing was over a lot of the pedestrains asked if they could try the bikes or the go-kart. Sadly we had to say no due to rules.

There was this incident that happen which i found really funny. This boy was running, so i booked him. Immediately after he got booked, he actually went and RAN again. So i had to book him again.

We also did some drills in public, although they were quite badly done. For that, we got severly punished when we reached back to VS. This was a really good experience and i'm glad i didn't miss it, and if i did i wouldn't get my next rank.

Title : Class decoration competition.

As the title said, we had to design our class and the class with the most unique and exotic design wins. The deadline for the competition is 28th of February, yet we completed it today, which is the 22nd of January. We have more than a month yet we all rushed through the work. We still are lacking the words that make up a 2D student such as diligence and determined.

For the basic background, we decided on a beach theme after much discussion. To go along with the beach theme. Sean decided to draw some Narnia characters along such as Aslan. The cupboard which was suppose to be opened was locked, so everyone treated it like the door to Narnia.

This is what sean drew on the cupboard and i kept editing bits and pieces here and there :

Looks more like a giant teddy bear than a lion.

These further photos are also done by Sean onto the metal cupboard using an erasable marker :

*the photo can be enlarged* The giant lock was done by the previous batch of 2D students. The writing was done by Sean. I wiped away a bit of it.

Our class seems to have a weird obsession with Lucy. When Joshua says it he sounds really funny.

This is what Sean would do if he was in Narnia.

2D!

Overall view.

From this experience, our class has worked fairly well together and to finish this up, i predict that we'll do even better. I really hope our class will win due to the amount of effort that has been put in by the class committee. Personally i only helped by cleaning the litter off the floor, but i didn't have any specific role in the designing of the class so i just tried to help in anyway i could before i went for home econ.

This has helped some members of our class bond closer together and the committee hopes that everyone will try and contribute to aim for the best class design the school has ever seen! This beach design for me is quite a startling choice. I didn't think it would be easy to make, and it wasn't. The amount of effort can be seen by looking at these photos.

So i'll conclude here that the class committee has the right people.

Title : Life NPCC Cadet

For anyone who looks at the title, everyone believes or will immediately think that a NPCC cadet's life is nothing more than drills, physical training and punishments. You're dead wrong.

We actually play games and more bonding sessions. We also practice doing drills until we get that 1 solid bang instead of the bang that sounds like a firecracker. Our seniors normally are very harsh on us but as members of UG and more importantly, NPCC, i believe that it's their job to instill discipline in us. We cannot be boorish to our seniors, or anyone who rightly deserves our respect. Puerile behaviour is also not acceptable. Without discipline, the foundation of us will just literally collapse. By achieving a solid bang, we are able to co-operate with one another and understand each others' strong and weak points and learn from them. Punishment for whatever reason is doing a set number of pushups, a hackneyed form of punishment used by Uniform Groups and training for sport CCAs.

Today for my own training as a sec 2 cadet, we 1st had to do a parade which included saying the NPCC pledge, where i could clearly see some cadets in my level being quite insipid about it. We were forced to remember it by heart, and i found this very superfluous as we could just repeat after the commanding officer. After that we did drills with red cross. Not together, but we could see each others' drills. It was obvious to us that red cross's drills were extremely coordinated. Compared to ours, which sounded like fire crackers, theirs had reached a really high standard. Surprisingly, our drills became comparable if not better than them after our senior said " We'll be ending our drill training in 5min". All our drills immediately became very synchronized. The seniors were very amazed and proud of our drills but we continued doing drills for another 30minutes. The senior had lied to us! However with this lie, our drills had significantly improved.

After our drills we changed and played a round of soccer against the newly joined sec 1s. Some of our teammates disdained the sec 1s and thought we would surely win, and we were proven wrong. We formed 3 teams and played 9 versus 9. Despite some of them being quite big in size, they were surprisingly agile and dexterous. Sadly, my team lost 2 - 0. 1 point was scored when the goalkeeper wasn't looking. The 2nd point was scored when the ball hit our senior in the stomach and he gave 1 point to the sec 1s as penalty. This taught us never to underestimate our opponent.

Immediately after debriefing, we were allowed to go home. It was a very tiring but satisfying training.

My name tag and badge.

NPCC has given me a chance to live a different life from what i'm used to. My normal life is normally carefree and blithe, but life as a NPCC cadet is strict and harsh. NPCC is still fun and i don't regret joining it, although i didn't have much of a choice as Mr Chan didn't let me join badminton when i got into both badminton and NPCC as i appealed for CCA twice. Joining such a CCA also let me meet many different people with different personalities. There are those who were very reticent, and those who love talking, like me. Today's training also taught me how important teamwork is. If we don't have teamwork, our drills would never be co-ordinated.

With this fun day of training, i can't wait for the next one! Although the part where the seniors lied wasn't very fun...

Title : An average student's life.
This post will be about events that happened on Monday which is the 18/1/10.

My dad shouted to me while i was still sleeping that it was 7am although it was only 6.15pm. What a "good" way to start off the day. Arrived at school and realised i forgot how to tie my tie. Yay, another "better" thing happened. A performance by WuShu students was shown. They seem to hit the floor really hard. Ouch. Pity their legs and hands. Then they had this really thin and flexible sword which wobbled around really violently. Luckily the sword didn't fly towards us... Then it was CDE-TTT(i'm not really sure how is it spelt. It is spelt like this on the timetable) lesson. We had to do about the characteristic "resilience". Sean began to draw some utter rubbish. Like this :

Sean ruined our work on resilience, as usual.

Well the kat kit(parody of kit kat) was sean's idea. I wrote the part where it says "Eat chocolate to stay awake in class"

I can't recall who actually spitted on this paper.

Lemuel did this (: And why is my name there.

Another of sean ruining our work.

Final Picture on what Sean/Me/Lemuel/Gabriel and Brandon did.

Then it was science, everyone was suggesting that we didn't remind Mr Gabriel about the changing of positions. So when Mr Gabriel reached the class we all acted quite innocently. "Now i need to change your positions," Mr Gabriel said. "Ahhh....." Everyone sighed and was hoping they didn't change position. Emmanuel and Ashwin was the first to be seperated cause they cannot stop talking to each other. So they were quite far apart. And yongkai also moved. Ryan as well. Hanwei ended up sitting beside me. Oh god. He can't stop talking or annoying me.

Everyone argued a bit during recess about the new sitting arrangement but we finally got used to it. Later after maths we had home econs. Me, Sean, Yongkai and Julson then went for a 1st Person shooter game called VBS. We needed to train. 20/28 of our NPCC squad went for it. So we skipped 2/3 of home econ. I have to go for replacement lesson on the 20th. The first person shooter game was not bad. We tried to play against another school but the game lagged, so we played against each other. Most of us died due to friendly fire.

Although we had to miss lesson, i guess it's good to take a break once in awhile. When i reached home i was so tired. Well my day is coming to an end.

After reading about our VBS 1st person shooter game and us screwing up our resilience work, it's become aware to me that teamwork is an important factor if we're going to get anywhere in life.
